The intervention in the Carlos Relvas Studio-House in Golegã was unique once it involved reversing the transformation of the Photography Studio into a partially residential building. The decision was based on valuing the building’s original function, its uniqueness in the national and European context, and the perception that the changes made by the photographer preserved the original structure. The project consisted of verifying the safety of the original iron, masonry and wood structures, assessing the need for reinforcements compatible with the conservation operations. Using period photographs and taking advantage of elements found during the demolition process, it was possible to reapply the original materials and technical solutions, increasing their performance where necessary.
