Open on May 28, 1932, this ferry terminal, designed by the Portuguese Architect Cottinelli Telmo, was closed from 2011 to 2021 for refurbishment works that ensured its functionality. The intervention involved repairing and refurbishing the existing structure not only for vertical loads, but also for the seismic action. The prismatic columns, 6m to 8m apart, were retrofitted with CFRP, new grade beams were created in order to strengthen the structure, the masonry panels were retrofitted with jacketing and the slabs, initially only 0,10m thick, were stregthen with a concrete layer.
