The Nova Medical School is a complex comprising five buildings that brings together the future Nova Medical School and AHED (Advanced Health Education) in a space intended to be the future of healthcare education. The campus includes four new buildings with a bold design perfectly integrated into the space of the former Orthopedic Hospital Dr. José de Almeida, near Carcavelos Beach. The rehabilitation and adaptation of a 16th-century old fort are also planned, constituting the fifth building of the complex. This is a challenging project with architectural layouts that emphasize the spaciousness of the areas, leading to solutions involving reinforced and prestressed concrete, with predominant large spans (around 19m), prestressed bands, cantilevered elements, among other solutions that make this architectural project viable.
