Founded in the 16th century, above the village of Colares in Sintra, the Capuchos Convent is situated in an isolated area that once hosted franciscan friars, reflecting their intimate connection with nature through simple, humble yet functional construction elements. The intervention centred on assessing the condition of the buildings and establishing measures for repair and strengthening, primarily addressing the roofs affected by rot-inducing fungi. These were either restored, reinforced, or replaced while always respecting their original appearance and dimensions. The heritage status of the buildings made it necessary to undertake multidisciplinary work, having drawn up a charter of intervention principles that guided all the work carried out on this set of constructions.
